My Topic Choice: Barbie Dolls

The Barbie doll was invented in 1959 by Ruth Handler. His daughter was called Barbara. Barbie was introduced to the world  at the American Toy Fair in New York. The doll was supposed to be a teenage fashion doll. There has been some public debate over Barbie's figure when it realized that if Barbie was a real person her measurement would be an impossible 36-18-38. The male doll, Ken, was named after Ruth's son. Barbie first had bendable legs in 1965.

This story takes place in the 1930's. This story starts: A young girl meets a boy and they fall in love. The girl graduates from High School and she wants to go to college. The girl's parents dont want her to go to college, becasue it is not a common tradition. She goes to college anyway adn marries the boy too. Ruth and Elliot raise two children, Barbie and Ken.

Mid 1940's, Ruth and Elliot owned a company that made wooden picture frames and Elliot began to use the scrapes of wood from picture frames to make doll furniture. It was teh beginning of their toy history. In 1945, Ruth and Elliot joined with a close friend to form a company. This company would be named Matted, MATT and EL. Mattel continued to grow from a very profitable buisness into a corporate giant.

Ruth then hired Charlotte Johnson, a fashion designer, to create Barbies wardrobe. 1958, BArbie would be long limbed, shapely and beautiful, and was only 11 1/2 tall. Paper fashion dolls of the times would give way to a 3-D beauty. Ruth and Elliot would name their new fashion doll after their own daughter,Barbie. Barbie dolls' soon to be boyfriend Ken, would be named after their son Ken.

March of 1959, Barbie doll made her way to the New York Toy Show and recieved a cool reception from the toy buyers. She would be viewed as risky to buyers since she was not the typical stlye selling baby doll of the times.Upon seeing Barbie on store shelves, the public decided differently. By 1960, the mood owuld change and the orders started pouring into Mattel. It took several years for Mattel to catc up with the demand for Barbie. Within 10 years, the public purchased $500m worth of Barbie products

Barbie had under gone a lot of changes over the years and has managed to keep up with current trends in hairsytles, makeup, and clothing. She is a reflection of the history of fashion since her introduction to the toy market. Barbie has a universal appeal and collectors of all ages enjoy time spent and memories made with their dolls.Barbie; 1959-present. I have to do Bible homework on Classchatter. Bible homework is fun. I have to read my bible scripture and give a summary of what I read. I also have to answer the question. This is very important that my format is correct, because it is for a grade.

This website is my starter website on my computer. This is the Boston, Celtics website. I can see their schedule of their games, when they play, where they play, and what channel they will be on. Also, I can see the scores of the game, if I missed the game. The Celtics are my favorite basketball team, which is why they are my starter website on my computer.

I love shopping at aeropostale in the mall. I use this website to search for the new things that are out. I like purses and aeropostale t-shirts, so I mostly search those. I can save the things I like. I can look at the prices to determine if my parents will buy it or not. If not, I'll have to save my own money. I love aerosostale's outfits. They have the cutest sunglasses.

I use this website to check my e-mail's. I email my classmates and family members. When you sing up for newsletter ads, they come through e-mail, which is my I check it everyday. I get shopping catalogs, such as areopostale and hollister. I get e-mail from my teacher, such as Science, about upcoming tests, and what to study.

I like to watch music videos. Such as Miley Cyrus and Justin Bieber. I like to listen to music while I am studying. I dance to music sometimes, not ofter. I watch things for history or science that my teacher gives us. I also like to watch people prank call.

I use this email mostly. I use it for Publications class and school e-mail. I also get newsletters. I get updates from my Wii or DSi. People sent me junk mail, such as free laptop, but they are virus, so I don't open them.

I use this when I need to search something for class. Also, when I search for a project. I search pictures and websites. I also use this to get to google mail. Lastly, you can search any website and it will appear.

                    Facebook

Facebook is a social networking website that is operated and privately owned by Facebook, Inc. It's a great to meet friends and keep up on what they are doing. Once you add a friend to your Facebook friend list you will always know when they are adding things to their blog or updating their photos. Join Facebook groups to meet people like you, or search the profiles to find new friends. Facebook's classmates and co-worker search is good for finding friends too.

You can add photos and photo albums to your Facebook profile. Also, use the blog feature to create your own simple blog or you can merge your existing blog right into Facebook's blog. Search and browse for people on Facebook using just about any search features. You can not add music to your Facebook profile. You also cannot add video to your Facebook profile. You can also chat with your friends when they are online and send them mail.

You can use facebook just about anytime; when you want to chat with a friend or maybe you are bored. Facebook is beneficial because you can stay in touch with friends and family. Facebook can be harmful because people can see your personal information and predators can see your profile picture and stalk you. If you are under 13, you shouldn't have a facebook, unless your parents are aware, and are monitoring your facebook. You should never give out your personal information to people you don't know.

You shouldn't add people you don't really know.

People should watch what they say and on Facebook. If it is inappropriate, you will get caught. To stay safe, you can select who can see your profile, and what they can see. You select everyone, friends only, only you, or you can select out of your friends who can see your posts, pictures, and profile. You shouldn't put your contact information if your are under 18. All of your friends can see this and contact you; including the people you accept as your friends, that you don't know. You can choose to be safe on Facebook or ignore, but it's better safe than sorry.

Blog Assignment #25/Sarah Palin

Sarah Palin

Sarah Palin was born February 11, 1964. She was born in Sandpiont, Idaho, but moved to Alaska with her familt at 3months old. Sarah is best known as John McCain's vice-president canidate in 2008. Her birth name is Sarah Loiuse Heath. Sarah, the first female governor of Alaska. As a child, she played point guard for Wasilla High School's 1982 championship team and she places second in the Miss Alaska contest in 1984.

 

After going to 4 different colleges, Sarah earned a journalism degree from the university of Idaho in 1987. Then, she returned to Alaska adn married Todd Palin, which was her high school boyfriend in 1988.December 4, 2006, she became the first woman governor of Alaska. Two years later John McCain made her the Republican Party's first female canidate for vice president. They were defeted by Barack Obama and Joe Biden.

On January 27, 2009, Sarah formed the political action committee, SarahPAC. It was reported that the SarahPAC had raised nearly $1,000,000. A legal defense fund was set to help Palin challenge ethics complaints, and it had complaints, and it had collected approximately $250,000 by mid-July 2009. In June 2010, Palin's defense fund was ruled illegal and will have to pay back $386, 856 it collected in donations because it used Palin's position as governor to raise money for her personal gain. Sarah subsequently set up a new defense fund.


The Palins have 5 children: son Track(1989), daughter Bristol(1990), daughter Willow(1994), daughter(2000), and son Trig(2008). Trig has down syndrome. Days after her nomination as vice- president in 2008, Sarah annonced that her 17-year -old daughter, Bristol, was pregnant. Palin said Bristol would marry the father, Levi Johnston, but Bristol and Levi later broke up. Their son Tripp, was born in December 2008. 


Sarah's high profile in the 2008 presidential campaign fueled that fact that she will run for the Republican presidential nomination in 2012. The beginning in November 2008, there was an active "Draft Palin" movement. February 6, 201, when Fox news asked her if she would be running for president in 2012, she said, "I would be willing to be if  I believe that it's right for the country. I won't close the door that perhaps could be open for me in the furute."
